Bluejay successfully prepared a $53.3 million Federal Railroad Administration Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) grant application to fund railroad track improvements to two Eastern Maine Railway (EMR) mainlines in Penobscot, Aroostook, Washington, and Piscataquis counties in Maine, as well as improvements to a branch line serving a bio-industrial park.
The Driving Maine’s Rural Economy through Freight Rail Efficiency Project includes replacing or upgrading 97 miles of rail, installing crossties, replacing jointed rail with continuously welded rail, and placing approximately more than 100,000 tons of ballast. The Project will restore and expand EMR’s access to a strategically located industrial site in Northern Maine combined with improving safety, capacity, efficiency, and reliability along the EMR mainline.
Congratulations to MaineDOT and Eastern Maine Railway for this transformational project funding!
To date, Bluejay has won more than $520 million in Federal and state grants for clients supporting numerous infrastructure projects for freight rail, urban connectivity, emissions reductions, roads, bridges, ports, and more. Learn more about our grant services and success.
The CRISI program aims to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of freight rail and intercity passenger systems across the nation. It is one of several Federal infrastructure-related grant programs, many of which were created and funded by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The BIL provides $1.2 trillion of Federal investments in infrastructure through fiscal year 2026. Take advantage of the funding today for your project by contacting Bluejay Advisors for your Federal and state grant application needs.
