Bluejay Advisors developed the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) grant application on behalf of Jaguar Transport Holdings for its recent $10.9 million grant award. In partnership with Kansas DOT, the grant will fund numerous track improvements on the Cimarron Valley Railroad, improving safety and increasing capacity on the line. CVR will use the funding to replace approximately 51,618 crossties, perform approximately 3,577 flash-butt welds to rail, relay 3.7 miles of rail in curves, apply new ballast to 67 miles of track, and surface 85 miles of track. These improvements will enable CVR to support biodiesel transport as well as local agricultural products, raise the allowable speed from 10 mph to 25 mph, and increase the railroad’s ability to handle heavier loads.
