Josh Putterman is a transportation executive with broad management experience and a career of equal parts in finance, operations, strategy development, and relationship management. Prior to co-founding Bluejay Advisors, he spent 22 years in the railroad industry working at CSX Transportation, a Class I publicly-traded freight railroad, and in the short line railroad industry at RailAmerica, a company that was taken private by a private equity firm and subsequently went public.
Josh is a deal maker and experienced negotiator with customers and counterparties of varied size and motivation and a recognized industry leader, able to energize teams and improve processes. Josh is an experienced strategic thinker, able to clearly define, communicate and solve complicated issues. He has created partnerships with industry peer companies, customers, and government entities, from federal agencies to states and municipalities. Additionally, he has lead several teams that successfully developed and ingrained technology solutions to business problems, saving millions of dollars.
Josh is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Paul is Director Grants for Bluejay Advisors. In this capacity, he is primarily responsible for various aspects of all grant applications that Bluejay produces on behalf of clients, including research, analysis, writing and supporting documentation.
Prior to joining Bluejay Advisors, Paul spent 19 years at CSX Transportation in Jacksonville, Florida, the largest railroad in the eastern United States. During his time in management at CSX, he worked in various departments including Intermodal, Network Rationalization, Strategic Planning, Car Management, and Crew Management. While there, he managed a variety of railcar fleets with increasing responsibility, eventually overseeing the distribution of more than 8,000 railcars, translating to more than $400 million in company assets. He provided fleet management assistance with a focus on customer service to a variety of Fortune 500 companies. Paul has significant experience with railcar leasing, railcar ownership, car hire, car repair, and railcar cleaning.
Paul has spent the previous five years writing transportation-related grant applications, including federal applications under various USDOT- and EPA-funded programs, for projects costing upwards of $35 million. His recent work alongside Bluejay Advisors led to more than $650 million in grant funding for clients. He also previously wrote state, federal, and corporate foundation grant applications for the health care industry.
Paul has a solid understanding of the dynamic short line railroad industry, having worked with dozens of short lines over the past 20 years. He understands the requirements needed to make short lines successful.
Paul is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunication with a Minor in Business Administration. He received his M.B.A. from Jacksonville University.
Oliver Lopez is a financial professional with more than three years of M&A advisory experience. He has supported the closing of more than three transactions and more than $125 million in enterprise value.
Oliver works closely with business owners and management teams on sell-side transactions from engagement through closing. He provides comprehensive transaction support, including financial and operational analysis, due diligence, and process management, ensuring a successful outcome that maximizes value for clients.
Oliver earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with Summa Cum Laude distinction from the University of North Florida.
